Bill Hinsley knows that project management is where ultimate A/E/C firm success is generated, and he has become one of PSMJ’s most popular Project Management instructors. He has trained more than 8,000 PMs and Principals in Project Management Bootcamps across the globe, conducted dozens of in-house Bootcamps for A/E/C firms that desire more customization and specialization in their training, and developed tailored PM training models for each client from two-day bootcamps to four-hour training sessions and live online training.
Bill served as Associate Vice President of renowned international firms ARCADIS and Atkins where he spearheaded $1 million to $11 billion projects. With extensive project management experience in the planning, engineering, procurement, and management of large civil works projects, Bill has served as Senior Project Manager, Principal PM, and Principal-in-Charge.
He has had success in many different areas including business development, leadership training, branch office optimization, and strategic planning and growth. He is experienced in the coordination and direct opening of multiple regional offices, the M&A of branch offices, and decision-making in determining the future success of a branch office. Bill had the unique experience of opening a branch office on his own at just 29 years old where he attracted more than $200 million of work. He led marketing success through a decentralized “inform and empowerment” model, instructed hundreds of practitioners on how to leverage others’ overall marketing philosophy to succeed in the competitive A/E/C marketplace, and he used innovative business development strategies as an instrument to break into new services and attract new clients.
He is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers and the American Council of Engineering Companies.
Tim currently serves as Principal-in-Charge at RMF Engineering, an engineering consulting firm with international projects. Tim is responsible for offices in Raleigh and Charlotte, NC, and Atlanta, GA, and has also served on RMF’s Board of Directors for 12 years.
In his instructing with PSMJ, Tim focuses on working with principals to be better leaders and business managers and helping others set up leadership training within their organizations.
Tim’s philosophy, which has developed over more than 30 years, is that everything rises and falls with leadership and that leadership is both accountable and responsible for a firm’s highs and lows. Tim has led RMF’s leadership development university for six years, where he has trained mid-level leaders to understand the business side of leadership. He is also experienced at helping firms develop their own in-house leadership universities, and he gives keynote presentations on millennials nationally and internationally.
Tim is a registered professional engineer and certified energy manager with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Colorado State University. He is the Chairman of the International District Energy Organization, a 100+ year-old trade organization.

In more than 15 years with PSMJ, Michael D’Alessandro has trained thousands of A/E/C professionals on the principles of successful project delivery. His areas of particular expertise include present-worth cost estimating, negotiating capital financing, code investigations, multidisciplinary engineering coordination, equipment and subcontractor procurement, construction management, and facility commissioning.
Michael is a Senior Principal Environmental and Civil Engineer with Geosyntec and has more than 25 years of experience focused on the development of environmental and infrastructure projects using design and build and performance-based implementation strategies. He has special expertise as a construction engineering consultant, engineering practitioner, and project and program management specialist.
Michael received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Merrimack College, his master’s degree in environmental engineering from Clemson University, and an Executive Certificate in Finance and Accounting from the Dupree School of Management at Georgia Tech.
With a 35-year career in the engineering and construction industry, Jay McRae has extensive experience in business development, operations, program and project management—teaching, facilitating, and inspiring staff in the public and private sectors.
Jay has personally trained hundreds of project managers and principals-in-charge on the principles of successful project delivery and financial management. He is a highly experienced project manager, who was responsible throughout his career for project identification, scope and fee development, project team selection, and leading the execution of agreed-upon work.
In addition to his work with PSMJ, Jay has held several positions as Vice President for CH2M, Director of North America Transit, and Rail Director at CH2M, as well as the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) Region 2 Project Delivery Manager, where he was well-known for his coaching and mentoring prowess. With this passion for developing leaders, Jay speaks regularly across North America about elevating leadership in the A/E/C industry.
As the North America Transit and Rail Director for CH2M, Jay brought the organization from ENR #14 to ENR #5 ranking in gross revenue in the US. Additionally, Jay led his team to 20% growth rates for four consecutive years while he was the Northwest Transportation Region Business Group Manager.
While serving ODOT’s Region 2, he improved project on-time delivery from 40% to 100% and lowered delivery costs by 25%. Based on this performance, Jay was asked to redesign all of ODOT’s Project Selection and Development processes.
Jay has served as a Program Manager, Principal-in-Charge, and Senior Advisor for projects with Sound Transit, Honolulu Area Rapid Transportation, and Los Angeles Metro. He had direct involvement in over 3,000 projects in transportation and water markets with many other clients and jurisdictions.
Jay attended Oregon State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, and serves on their Industry Advisory Board. Jay also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Portland State University.

Jared is an accomplished engineering executive with extensive experience in engineering management, operations, financial management and business strategy.
Jared spent most of his career at Hankins and Anderson, a full-service A/E firm of approximately 200 people that specialized in federal building design. Jared served as a Senior Vice President and Director of Operations where he was responsible overseeing and directing the operations of the firm. He was heavily involved with strategy, management, and finance and was also responsible for developing and implementing the firm’s strategic management system and improving its quality management system.
After Hankins and Anderson was acquired by Mason & Hanger, Jared was responsible for leading the integration of the two firms’ operations and was responsible for developing and monitoring Mason & Hanger’s strategic plan. He also served as Mason & Hanger’s Vice President of Operations. Jared also served as a Department Head, Chief Structural Engineer, and Senior Structural Engineer at Hankins and Anderson.
Jared began his career as a structural engineer at Stanley D. Lindsey and Associates where he designed low and high-rise buildings and specialty structures. He also worked at URS Corporation designing bridges, including the first extradosed cable-stay bridge in the world. Working for several different types of firms, both small and large, has allowed him to be exposed to many different facets of the A/E industry.
Jared has served on several boards of directors and served as treasurer for several organizations. He was also heavily involved with the American Council of Engineering Companies of Virginia. He is a speaker, writer, and adviser on topics of business management and strategy with an emphasis on the A/E/C industry. He has worked as adjunct faculty for the Virginia Commonwealth University Executive MBA program, teaching business planning, and has been a guest lecturer for professional service MBA classes at the University of Richmond.
Jared is a registered professional engineer. He has BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering, with a structural emphasis, from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University.
