Ken Tichacek, who has served as a PSMJ consultant and bootcamp leader for more than 10 years, has been actively engaged in the A/E/C industry for more than 35 years. His areas of expertise include strategy, business development, marketing, and all aspects of proposal strategy.
As one of PSMJ’s most-requested instructors, Ken believes that all of BD and proposal-making is knowing how to tell a story—and not just a good story, but the right story (“Tell, don’t sell!”). Ken leverages his ample facilitation skills (a combination of a no-punches-held style mixed in with Vermont weirdness and a healthy dose of Red Sox fever) to help his bootcamp attendees tell those stories to unimagined success.
When it comes to strategic planning, Ken’s sweet spot is helping firm leaders to achieve success through deep analysis and an exploration of quantifiable objectives.
Ken knows how to think like a client, because he was one for over 10 years in both the public and private sectors. That perspective has allowed Ken to develop a unique and effective approach to managing and leading client-oriented design and construction firms of all sizes.
Ken is a member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) and an Associate Member of the AIA. Ken is a frequent guest lecturer for SMPS, AIA, ACEC, and other professional organizations throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Ken lives in a remote Vermont town and sells vegetables by the side of the road for charity. He is perhaps most proud of the $100 he once earned for performing in a professional opera.
