Rebuilding in the Wake of Destruction: Join the AEC Community in Making a Difference

At PSMJ, we believe that our mission goes beyond professional success—we’re here to make a positive, lasting impact on communities, especially when they need it most. The Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) community has a unique ability to create lasting change, not just by building structures but by rebuilding lives.

A Legacy of Rebuilding After Disaster

When Hurricane Katrina struck, we saw the vital role long-term planning and resources play in recovery. From that experience, we co-founded a 501(c)(3) organization to provide critical funding for the planning, redesign, and permitting necessary for sustainable rebuilding. With the support of our industry peers, we helped Gulf Coast communities recover and thrive.

Now, communities affected by California Wildfires, Hurricane Helene, and other recent disasters face similar challenges. The media coverage may dwindle, but the true work of rebuilding often continues for much longer and is an under-resourced need in disaster recovery. At PSMJ, we are doubling down on our commitment to rebuilding efforts, raising funds to support the long-term recovery of affected communities and prepare for future crises.

Restoring the Heart of Hot Springs

One current effort includes assisting in the rebuilding efforts for the Hot Springs Library in Hot Springs, North Carolina, which was severely impacted by Hurricane Helene. The library has long been a vital resource for the community, offering important services like educational programs for children, support for seniors, public access to Wi-Fi and computers, a food pantry, and more. The community of Hot Springs worked hard to secure the building’s future, and now, in the face of the damage only four years later, they are coming together once again to restore this cornerstone of the community.
